So, if you happen to have $1.08 left over on your Discretionary Regency Romance Budget Line, you may be interested in purchasing the MP3 of my story, "The Roman and the Regency" at Sniplits.

The reading is absolutely top-notch, from the snippet I've heard of it (I need to sit down with the longer version, and stifle my absurd nervousness whenever I see/hear my stuff performed). There is a sample available at http://sniplits.com/storiesforauthor.jsp?a=79

That is partially directed at you, _earthshine_; I don't know if you've noticed, but there's a whole slew of my stuff that can be listened to, rather than read. If you click through to my bio, there's a list of audio stuff, complete with links. Most of it is free from donation-supported podcast magazines--in fact, everything except this most recent story is!

Oh, other news: The cute robot book, AKA, Unplugged: The Web's Best Sci-Fi & Fantasy - 2008 Download (which contains my story "The Girl-Prince") has received a starred review at Publisher's Weekly. I did not get the named shout-out that several of my esteemed colleagues did (yay beth_bernobich and tinaconnolly! For example!), but that's okay, there's enough glory from that star to go around.

I still need to get my stuff on anthology builder. Not that that has anything to do with your good news (which is fabulous, by the way), but seeing your shameless self promotion (tm) reminded me that I'm remiss in my own shameless self promotion (tm). Promise to beat me if I don't get this done by the end of the year? Pain's a good motivator.

Well, I dunno about beatings. You might take a butter knife to me, in an urban fantasy kinda way.

How do you feel about heckling? I'm pretty sure I can heckle.

It's funny, I have a similar deadline (mine's Christmas), and I'm less than 20k from the end. Today, it seems doable. (I could also be crazy.) My new goal in life is not to let a year go by without writing a new book. I'm getting dangerously close this year. Anyway, as a spur to keep momentum going after typing "The End," I've been making myself a little NaNoWriMo-esque spreadsheet for the next year of my life. 300 words a day of new stuff, plus 2 pages of editing/rewriting. AKA, 40 minutes of writing a day. I can do those two things in 20 minutes or less.

The other piece of the spreadsheet is that I have to do ONE minor chunk of "career maintenance" a day. Submit a story, or pimp something I've sold, or... put a story up on Anthology Builder... :) Anything that takes less than 20 minutes counts as One Thing.

Heckling's good.

I like the way you think. A little writing and a little editing and a little maintaining every day. Mayhap I will steal your idea.

I like to think we all contributed to earning that star. (And Rich gets extra points for choosing us! *g*)

And yay for self-promotion!

Hey, that's awesome... thanks for thinking of me.

Plus and also: y'know, i actually read these days. A little. I have about 20-40 minutes per workday to kill commuting, and i've finished like 3 books already! In only as many months! :)

So, is there like a "Best of Mer" anthology out yet? What's the best way to grab a batch of your stories and get nice readable hardcopy?

This one is easy.
Go to AnthologyBuilder.com! http://www.anthologybuilder.com/welcome.php

Set up an account, build an antho, and there you go. It doesn't have my most-most recent stuff because that's still exclusive or I'm shopping the reprints, but it's got some good ones.

are all my stories, but there are plenty more to go around if you're interested in other things, too. You might really dig the story called "Wikihistory" by Desmond Warzel, for example. Also, I built an anthology of the shortest stories available on the site, in fact: http://www.anthologybuilder.com/view_template.php?template_id=507

Anyway. Buy there, and I get paid, so it's double-cool.

Re: This one is easy.
Paid is good.

So, wait... is there an anthology already made that's The Authoritative merriehaskell? ...or do i make it up from the 9 stories i see on there?

Re: This one is easy.
You would make it up. I encourage you to add more stories, too; it's the same price either way!

w00t! I get to make the Shameless MerFan Antho?!? I feel so fannish!!

I'll see how much it costs and decide if it's worth shopping around. Thanks!
